Welcome

Do you struggle with making changes in your life? Have you found yourself reluctant to seek help because you think you should be able to handle everything on your own? Have you asked yourself, "What good will it do to talk to a total stranger?"

If you've had these questions you are not alone. These are all normal thoughts but they can also intefere with getting help. You may have already tried to handle these issues yourself but have struggled to maintain certain changes. It is human nature to try to figure things out, however many issues are too big or overwhelming. Do you believe that you should know how to handle everything? As a society, we have come to view asking for help as a weakness but there is strength in accepting help when appropriate.

If you've ever seen a doctor, used an accountant, hired a mechanic, home contractor, or personal trainer, then you clearly understand that we often rely on others' help to get things right. It also makes sense to see a specialist when life is difficult. When there are problems in one's life, self-reliance may be a weakness not a strength.

Everyone goes through challenging situations in life, and while you may have successfully navigated through other difficulties you've faced, there's nothing wrong with seeking out extra support when you need it. In fact, therapy is for people who have enough self-awareness to realize they need a helping hand, and that is something to be admired. You are taking responsibility by accepting where you're at in life and making a commitment to change the situation by seeking therapy.
